First Parents' Evening of the Season

There was a 'full house' of players and parents of the 11-16 year old age groups at the first Parents' Evening of the season held in the Centenary Suite at McDiarmid Park last Thursday.

Introduced by Youth Academy Manager Alistair Stevenson, the evening consisted of talks by the Academy Welfare Office and Club Chaplain Rev David Barrie who outlined his role and availability at the club, Eric Dawes of The Sport Academy Scotland spoke about the further education opportunities that exist for young players when they join the club full-time and an informative video-accompanied talk on the Laws of the Game from Kevin Graham from the Perthshire and Angus Referees Association.

However, special praise must go to fulltime Development Players Connor McLaren, Scott Stevenson and Rhys Evans who all gave excellent talks on specific topics - Connor on the decision to leave Celtic to come to Saints, Scott on what it has taken to come back from serious injury and Rhys on the experience of leaving his home on Tyneside to come to Perth to try his luck with Saints.

Further events will follow later in the season.
